Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is savoring the prospect of releasing his Manchester United speed demons ahead of the club’s pre-season friendly against Perth Glory tomorrow.
The United manager has been compelled to stay patient in his endeavors to bolster a squad which floundered severely in April and May and missed out on Champions League qualification.
Daniel James arrived from Swansea a month ago, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka participated in a £50million deal from Crystal Palace so as to join the remainder of the first team squad on the flight to Australia prior this week.
Solskjaer has been impressed by the manner by which James has warmed to the task of adapting to his new surroundings and been overwhelmed by his pace.
The Norwegian believes a front three of James, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will startle rivals next season however uncovered right-back Wan-Bissaka is no slouch either.
‘Is anyone faster than James? he said. ‘Maybe Wan-Bissaka! The two of them do have top, top speed. ‘Modern football is stop-start, it is go again, speed, tempo, quality, so those two have put their marker down. Of course, with our boys, we have got some quick ones.
‘It doesn’t matter if they are English, Norwegian, French, Brazilians, you just want good players, good people, quality and speed of course is a big thing in football nowadays.
‘The more X factors you have in a team, the better you are. Any player who plays against, say, Rashford, Martial, Dan James, with the pace they have got, I think you are worried that they can hurt you – even if they have an off day.’
